Lily James pays tribute to grandmother Marinette as she passes away
Lily James has announced that her grandmother Marinette has died at the age of 92.
The actress, 32, took to Instagram and shared a photo of her French maternal grandmother, describing her as her 'inspiration'.
The film star wrote: 'To my granny, may I live up to your strength, grace and memory.

'Your stories and life are my inspiration. 92 years. We are so grateful you were ours. I know you are resting in peace. With my grandad. Love that fills eternity.'
In an interview with The Telegraph, Lily told how Marinette fled her home village near Paris aged 11 when the Nazis invaded France.
Lily's grandfather William persuaded his wife to write her childhood memories down.
Lily said: 'She talked about listening to bombs fall, then going outside to find a truck driver she had befriended lying dead in the driver's seat,
'And of course after I read all this I had to talk to her about it, which was really emotional. Because it's a part of all our families' recent history, yet it feels so distant.'
The Rebecca star also shared a framed photo of herself and Marinette smiling side by side.
Lily received hundreds of condolensces on her post, with actress Gemma Chan writing: 'So glad to have met her. What an amazing woman. Love you ❤️'.
Lily replied: '@gemmachan awww you made her day. Made her pandemic ! ❤️u xxx'.

Novelist and director Addy Frost wrote: 'I’m sorry, Lily. She feels very strong even through the refraction of Instagram!'
Lily responded: '@addiespray she really was. And hilarious too. Thank you ❤️'.
The Pam & Tommy star's paternal grandmother was the actress Helen Horton, who voiced the voice of the ship's computer in Ridley Scott's Alien.
Helen also appeared in the 1972 film Endless Night and appeared on shows including Miss Marple and The Benny Hill Show.
She passed away in September, 2007 aged 83.
