Succession star Brian Cox says billionaires like Bezos and Musk have ‘lost the plot’

Succession star Brian Cox recently voiced his disappointment in billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson at the show’s season three premiere.

The 75-year-old actor, who plays media mogul Logan Roy on the hit HBO series, told PageSix that he believes “rich guys do lose the plot sometimes.”

It was an apparent dig at the likes of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Sir Richard Branson.

“Some rich guys think it’s best to be in [and] out of space most of the time,” Cox said. “When Branson said that we need more spaceships, I thought, ‘That’s the last thing this world needs is more spaceships.’”

Branson, 70, launched his Virgin Galactic spacecraft earlier this year, followed by Bezos, 57, who orbited the earth’s atmosphere in the New Shepard rocket with five other handpicked participants. Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak are also competitors in what has been called the “billionaire space-race”, with Musk’s SpaceX project currently valued at $100 billion. Musk’s ultimate goal is to take human beings to Mars.

Cox’s comments about space travel came just hours after Star Trek’s William Shatner blasted off on a rocket built by Bezos’s Blue Origin company. Prince William, also criticized space travel after the launch. The Duke of Cambridge told the BBC Newscast: “We need some of the world’s greatest brains and minds fixed on trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live.”

As for fictional billionaire Logan Roy, Cox told PageSix that one of the Roy boys will take over Waystar Royco in the new season of Succession, but couldn’t say which.

“I think there’s a lot of bad genes there to start with,” he said. “I think the boys are unfortunate, but I think they’ve all got potential and I think he always gives them the benefit of the doubt.”
