Mike Mitchell has passed away at the age of 65.

Mike got his first big break in the industry when he landed a role starring opposite Russell Crowe as a fighter in Gladiator.

His career went from strength to strength after this as he starred in The Planet, Emmerdale, Braveheart, City of Hell, Life on the Line and One Day Removals.

He was also a prominent name in the Turkish TV industry.

Before embarking on a career in acting, Mike was a bodybuilder, winning several well-known competitions included Mr Universe.

He was also given WWF's the Living Legend Award and won Britain's Strongest Man. However, he had no choice but to leave his bodybuilding days behind after suffering a heart attack.

According to aboutaberdeen.com, the actor spent the last few years of his life living in Devon with his wife Denise, where they ran The Beaches Guest House.

In 2014 they appeared on Channel 4's Four in a Bed where they came second in the Bed and Breakfast competition.

Mike leaves behind his wife and their children.
