Royal Family: Queen's cause of death confirmed by death certificate signed by Princess Anne

The Queen's cause of death has been confirmed by her death certificate signed by Princess Anne. Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, September 8, at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Today (September 29), 10 days after her funeral, her cause of death has been confirmed as old age. The certificate has been signed by her daughter, who accompanied her mother on her final journey from Scotland to London in the days after her death. The document, published by National Records of Scotland on Thursday, records that the late monarch died at 3.10pm on September 8 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, in the village of Aberdeenshire.

After she died, the UK entered a 10 day mourning period, where after a lying-in-state at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, she was moved to London where she was taken to Buckingham Palace. She was then taken by procession - followed by members of the Royal Family - to Westminster Hall.

There she lay in state for four days, and thousands of members of the public queues queued for up for 16 hours to see the Queen's coffin at the Hall. The Queen's funeral was then held on September 19 at Westminster Abbey, which was attended by her family as well as dignitaries from across the globe.

Thousands lined the streets of London to see the Queen one last time, before she was taken to be buried at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle alongside her late husband Prince Philip, who died in April 2021.
