Child star Matthew Mindler has tragically died at the age of 19

Child star Matthew Minder has tragically died at the age of 19.

The actor went missing earlier this week according to TMZ and his death has now been confirmed by the college Matthew attended.

TMZ report that the announcement read: "It is with a grieving heart that I let you know of the death of 19-year-old Matthew Mindler from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, a first-year student at Millersville University.

"A search had been underway for Matthew since Thursday, after he was reported missing. Matthew was found deceased this morning, Saturday, August 28, in Manor Township near campus."

Matthew's cause of death was not revealed in the announcement.

The 19 year old rose to fame in movies including As the World Turns, Frequency and Chad: An American Boy.

He acted alongside Hollywood's Paul Rudd in Our Idiot Brother.

The star was reported missing on Wednesday after he didn't return to his dorm room on Tuesday.

The child star had attended his classes on Monday and Tuesday but didn't return on Wednesday.

Millersville University President Daniel A. Wubah said in a statement on Friday, via local paper Morning Call,: "Our police department is continuing efforts to locate Matt in conjunction with regional law enforcement agencies. They are following every lead and appreciate your attention to this effort.”

On Twitter, many have paid tribute to the late star following the heartbreaking news, with one person writing: "So sorry to hear he has passed away. Rest In Peace."

Another added: "so our missing and now passed student was a child actor. sad that they often seem to lead tragic lives, 19 is just far too young. rest in peace matthew mindler."
