Missing Guatemalan rapper, 27, found dead inside barrel in an abandoned car
Guatemalan rapper who was missing for three days has been found dead inside a barrel that was left hidden in the trunk of an abandoned car.
The National Civil Police recovered the remains of Nesly Consuegra, 27, early Monday morning in Guatemala City. The body showed signs of extreme violence.
Consuegra, known in the Guatemalan hip-hop scene as 'Neshie,' was last seen alive when she left an office that she owned last Friday.
Residents on a block located between 29th street and 3rd avenue alerted police that a gray Mazda 3 without license plates had been left behind by a group of individuals about 10pm Sunday, near the entrance of a car repair shop.
Cops on the scene searched the vehicle before discovering the barrel in the trunk with Neshie's body inside tied with ropes.
The National Institute of Forensic Sciences said Consuegra's death was caused by a blow to the head.
No arrests had been reported as of Thursday afternoon.
Friends and fellow rappers came together Wednesday evening and marched in Guatemala City, calling on authorities to hunt down those who were responsible for murdering Neshie.
Neshie first started rapping in 2013, according to local Facebook group, 'Colectiva Urbana Oficial.'
She went on to form a women's freestyle movement known as 'Women Free,' which sought to help and empower women looking to become rappers and recorded her fist album, 'Estados Mentales' in 2016.
Neshie released a dozen more songs after her album.
'She played soccer, was a protector of animal rights and dedicated her time to taking care of puppies in veterinarians where she worked for a few years,' Colectiva Urbana Oficial wrote on a Facebook post.
'She was also starting a business. Our sister and colleague was a loving, helpful being, someone who had time to listen, a committed and passionate person. We remember her with love and demand justice.'
