Parent Trap actress dies after lengthy illness
Joanna Barnes - who starred in both the original and remake of The Parent Trap - has passed away aged 89. The star passed away at her home after a lengthy illness, her friend revealed on Saturday.

In the first version of the hit film in 1961, Barnes played Vicky Robinson. She was also cast in the 1998 remake alongside Lindsay Lohan playing Vicki Blake.
The talented actress had appeared in a number of other TV films and series and also had another string to her bow. She was also a published novelist.
Other films the actress had appeared in include Spartacus, Auntie Mame, Home Before Dark and The War Wagon. Barnes had also appeared in several TV shows, including 21 Beacon Street and The Trials of O’Brien.
She also served as host of the 1967 ABC television show Dateline: Hollywood. Her first novel, The Deceivers, was published in 1970 andf she went on to write Pastora in 1980.
Barnes also reviewed books for the Los Angeles Times. She is survived by two sisters, Lally and Judith, and three stepchildren, John, Laura, and Louise.
Tributes were paid to the actress by fans on Twitter. Kevin Bannerman said: "RIP Joanna Barnes, you were top drawer!"
"RIP! Fave Joanna Barnes moment in original THE PARENT TRAP. No cares given over ice queen sassing some twerp," Video Store Guy added.
