South Korean actor Song Yoo-jung has died aged 26, according to reports.

The star of MBC series Make a Wish died on 23 January. The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.

News of her death was confirmed by her representatives, the Sublime Artist Agency, according to the South China Morning Post.

Song began her career as a cosmetics brand model before pursuing acting. She landed an early supporting role in 2013, in the romantic drama Golden Rainbow.

This was followed by a role in Make Your Wish in 2014, and then an appearance in the long-running School franchise. She starred in the web drama Dear My Name in 2019.

She also appeared in music videos, including “How Do I” by NIve, which was released last year and has almost four million views on YouTube.

Singer NIve posted a tribute from his Instagram page, writing alongside a picture of a black square: “Yoo, I hope you don’t get sick anymore… thank you for being with me. I’m sorry I couldn’t share your pain… I hope that you will be comfortable and happy in the sky.”

Other actors represented by Song’s agency include Parasite star Song Kang-ho, and singer Jung Ji-hoon (aka Rain).

A funeral procession is scheduled to take place on Monday 25 January.
