The Bill fan-favourite George Rossi has sadly died at the age of 61.

The Scottish actor was best-known for his work as the loveable down-to-earth Detective Constable Duncan Lennox on the long-running police drama.

After a legacy of TV work, the star passed away on Wednesday, January 5 after his niece Louisa Rossi confirmed the news.

It has since been shared that the late star died from pancreatic cancer, and he was surrounded by family.

His wife Catrin was with him at the time, as well as their children Santino, 24, and Matilda, 26.

She shared with MailOnline: "George was a wonderful person. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle against pancreatic cancer.
