It was his role in NBC’s Law & Order in 1991 that spawned a decade spanning career with the series where he played a variety of characters through multiple seasons of the long-running crime show.

But he is perhaps best known for his role as Danny Scalercio in HBO’s smash hit series The Sopranos.

Bruce made his final acting appearance in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2021.

Countless friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the star following his passing, including Law & Order franchise producer Warren Leight who tweeted: “We’ve worked together often. He was a beautiful, honest actor and man. The real deal.”

Actor Evan Handler also shared: "I met Bruce MacVittie more than forty years ago. We worked and played together repeatedly, as actors, and as friends, throughout the ensuing decades."
